Basketry at Herstmonceux Medieval Festival
John will be attending the Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux Castle, and will be running basketry courses each day.
The course fee includes a one day entry to the Festival, on the day of the course only.

dates:

24 August 2014 and 25 August 2014

overview:

A two hour taster to teach you how to weave willow at England’s Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex. The two hour course (1pm - 3pm) will get you weaving with willow and learning some basic weaves and techniques.  You will also make a willow sunflower...a great decoration/plant support for the garden border or plant pot.  This project is also an introduction to basketry as the sunflower is formed using a basket base. This is all achievable in 2 hours, so you have the rest of the day to enjoy the festival. **Course fee includes a One Day Entry to the Festival, on the day of the course only.

tutor:

John Waller

start time:

1pm

finish time:

approx 3pm

cost:

35 per person, including a One Day Entry pass to the Festival, on the day of the course only.

cancellations:

we will provide a full refund if you cancel your place more than 14 days in advance of the course start date.  Please note that we will be unable to refund your course fee or transfer you to another course if you cancel your place less than 14 days before the start of the course.

what to wear:

You will be outside, under cover for the entire course.
Please note that for the majority of the course you will be sitting on cushions on the floor. This is the way that basketry is traditionally done and I have yet to find a better way to approach it!

course size:

maximum of 6 participants

what to bring:

Please bring some sharp secateurs and a sharp pocket knife if you have any.  If not, there are some available to borrow.  All other tools and materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring along any interesting tools!

how to book:

To secure the place, you will need to book a ticket online at
http://www.eventbee.com/v/englandsmedievalfestivaltickets2014

You will then be sent a booking confirmation, outlining where to go and what to bring.  If you haven’t received confirmation with 10 days of sending in your booking form, please contact us on info@mgel.com.  Please note that once payment has been banked, the course will run as advertised, and we will expect to see you on the day unless you have notified us otherwise.  We will issue a full refund if you give us 14 days notice of cancellation.  Unfortunately if you cancel your place within 14 days of the course date, we will not be able to refund your course fee.
